As a follower of Jesus, Domenic serves on the Board of Faith Works Michigan and YWAM Metro Detroit, trying to do the things Jesus would do in supporting family and community. Domenic and his wife Verna live in the Detroit Metro Area. They have 4 children and 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
As a skilled practitioner, consultant, and speaker, Shannon Gaston is widely considered one of Detroit’s most dynamic youth development leaders. His passion and commitment to young people is evidenced by two decades of service in which he has impacted more than 5,000 youth in Detroit, Michigan; Kenya; Ethiopia; and Jamaica.
He is currently director of Young Life-Detroit, a non-denominational Christian organization devoted to reaching adolescents in the area. Shannon is responsible for building relationships, managing volunteers and staff, and executing club meetings and camping trips. He is also a member of the organization’s Urban Elders team, which supports regional leaders and staff in diversity efforts that include the attraction and retention of staff of color.
Shannon holds a bachelor degree in biology from Wayne State University and a masters degree in intercultural and urban studies from Moody Bible Institute. As an emerging scholar, Shannon’s research is focused on exploring cross-cultural opportunities for shared power, indigenous leadership development, and building authentic relationships in the context of urban ministry. He lives with his wife, Shannon, and their children in Detroit, Michigan.
Dexter James is founder and senior pastor of Inner-City Outreach Ministries of Detroit, Michigan and founder and president of The Rainbow Fellowship Center of Decatur, Georgia. He is also founder of The Miller Wright Men’s Fellowship Home in Detroit. His mission is to help community members in need of support build solid spiritual and economic foundations for themselves and their families. His work focuses on assisting men from poor socio-economic backgrounds whose lives are off track to get a fresh start. His organizations provide assistance with housing, job training, and biblical teaching. During the past seventeen years, his Inner-City Outreach men’s home and other organizations helped transform the lives of hundreds of men.

With more than twenty years of experience, Jim’s career has been accentuated by leading-edge projects that assist automotive manufacturing companies with innovative technology and business performance improvement. His skill set includes corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, supply-chain optimization, automotive aftermarket, marketing, information technology, and new product development. In addition to Ford, Jim has serviced many leading automotive original equipment manufacturers. Prior to joining Deloitte, he worked as an advanced engineering director for Tata Technologies and held executive management positions with Carlisle & Company, Blue Titan Software, OEConnection, Xerox, and IBM.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts in music performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and did post-graduate study at The Julliard School of Music. He is also a graduate of the IBM Executive Education program of the University of Warwick in England with a concentration in Marketing.
Terry Oprea is an award-winning marketing and media veteran who has spent nearly 40 years in the marketing and news industries. He is former owner, president, and CEO of award-winning integrated marketing firm MCCI (Mort Crim Communications, Inc.), which he sold at the end of 2019.
Terry has trained or given strategic counsel to scores of corporate executives, government leaders, and marketing/sales professionals in the art of effective communications and messaging. Rick Warren is Chairman and CEO of Weldaloy Products Company. He has been the sole shareholder since 1994. Throughout his career, Rick has launched and led accounting, real estate development, and management consulting firms. He received a B.S. in finance from Michigan State University.

David has been married to Janis for over 40 years and they are the parents of seven adult children and grandparents to five grandchildren. Dave and his two oldest sons Bradley and Joseph are owners of Thomas Financial. Dave has been in the financial service business since graduating from Michigan State University. Brad and Joe joined him when they graduated from college. And in 2009 they and founded Thomas Financial. They serve their clients as investment advisors and wealth managers.
Dave was part of the Michigan State University’s football team that was the most integrated football team in the country as well as nationally ranked as either one or two in the nation in the mid to late 60s. He has maintained friendships with many of his teammates. And a player he learned to respect, value all his teammates.
Dave enjoys people, listening to them and learning about and from them. His thoughts about life, black and whites and race relations have been formed by many of his friends especially his African American friends, the books he has read and faith.
Nico Meylan is the founder and director of Youth With a Mission ( YWAM) Metro Detroit, Mi. A native of Switzerland, he spent ten years traveling the world as a missionary and speaker. He is passionate about bringing people together of different backgrounds and ethnicities. He lives in Detroit with his wife Marley.
Brad currently is a Certified Financial Planner in Bloomfield Hills Michigan. His practices focus on people who are at or near retirement with a priority on income planning. He resides in Huntington Woods, Michigan with his wife Janessa and their two dogs. Brad attended DeLaSalle high school in Macomb County where he earned a football scholarship to Northwood University in Midland Michigan. He was a three-time all GLIAC all academic while graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Brad has been involved in volunteering his time with the Detroit Humane society and the Downtown Boxing gym over the past few years. His interactions with the youth in Detroit have been impactful as well as had a profound effect on his life. He tutors about Math and English weekly at the downtown boxing gym, an award-winning program in Detroit.
The injustice in our corporate, economic, and criminal justice systems has always weighed heavily on Brad’s mind and actions. This group has provided a way to have a real, sustainable impact. In his joining and the formation of this group, Brad was quite skeptical. The group dynamics, growth, and ability for me and my counterparts to learn and change has been a revelation that needs to be shared. This message can be a catalyst to promote positive change.
Taylor Cox Jr. is an internationally known writer and organizational consultant and founding pastor of Living the Word Christian Ministries of Hazel Park, Michigan. He is the founder and CEO of Taylor Cox and Associates, a research and consulting firm specializing in the assessment and change of organizational culture and assisting organizations with the challenges and opportunities of culturally diverse workforces and markets.
He holds B.S. and MBA degrees from Wayne State University and a Ph.D. in business administration from The University of Arizona. During a twenty-year career as an academic, he served as a faculty member and administrator at several universities including Duke University, Winston Salem State University, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and The University of Michigan where he earned tenure in 1995.
His teaching in business schools has included a wide range of topics including small business management, organizational strategy, human resource management, principles of economics, and statistics. He has published extensively and won multiple awards including the best book award from the National Academy of Management for his book Cultural Diversity in Organizations: Theory, research, and practice.
